About Compassion Now

In 2015, we started 1000 Voices Speak for Compassion. We organized over 1000 bloggers to post about compassion on World Justice Day, with hashtag #1000Speak. 

Afterwards, we attempted to continue the momentum with monthly compassion themes to write about, and as interest died out, we had an annual theme, and interest kind of well. The world got harder. 

So in 2021, we decided to make some changes to our approach. We want to harness video and other media beyond blogs, and we are rebranding under Compassion Now because, well the world needs this, now. 

Meet the Team

Yvonne Spence, Founder

Yvonne Spence’s short stories and essays have been featured in She Magazine, Motherwell Magazine, Good Men Project, Brain-Child, and HerStories Project anthology, So Glad They Told Me: Women Get Real About Motherhoodir?t=yvonnespence Compassion Now. 

Yvonne has an MA in Creative Writing and two books published: Drawings In Sandir?t=yvonnespence Compassion Now a novel about a mother in recovery, and Looking For America: Short stories from the Shetland Islands. She also works as a mindset coach, supporting people to develop self-compassion and let go of limiting beliefs and emotions.

Poet, writer and YouTuber, Tamara Woods is author of The Shaping of an Angry Black Woman and Blood Roses and Honeysuckle. Her YouTube channel for writers and editors is all about books with a tiny touch of nerdery.
